Project 1:
Writing Research Proposal and Experiencing + Capturing Space
In Project 1a, we were to develop a proposal maximum of 3 pages in preparation for the site visit. In a group of 4, we got the title "Ripples of Life". The site that we have chosen was Kampong Baru, in Kuala Lumpur.

In project 2a, we were to produce a sketchbook and a photobook of the site we visited in order to capture the essence of the site, in relation to the topic of "Ripples of Life".
The objectives of this assignment are as follows: 1. To introduce the urban-related issues of the city in relation to architecture and the built environment
2. To introduce research and exhibition as a strategies for learning architecture and urbanity.
3. To develop self-directed and analytical skills in planning, conducting and presenting architectural research.

1. Write a short research proposal.
2. Document the urban and cultural facets of the city in relation to architecture and the built environment.
3. Analyze and interpret the urban and cultural facets of the city in relation to architecture and the built environment.

Our research poster should show comprehensive documentation of the data gathered and interpreted in a creative and organized manner or format. Each individual interpretation and analysis should focus on the topic/context assigned.

Interpretation should include a title and narrative (written essay). Title can be as creative as possible, best describes, relate or represent the place chosen within the context assigned. Narrative should briefly explain and connect to how representation and interpretation was extracted from the analysis.

We were required to make structural representations of the site using our creativity and imagination. The aim of this assignment is to translate our research into a visual representation. In the previous assignments,we were asked to plan, document and analyze data; in this assignment, we were required to transform our understanding and analysis in the form of a creative production for exhibition purpose, which manifests and visualizes our interpretations. Creative production refers to the visualization of research into a tangible Model or Artwork in the creative and experimental manner.
